Google Drive Is Ending Support

Google Drive is dropping support for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 this summer.

Google announced that starting from August 2023, Google Drive would no longer support the Google Drive desktop app on Windows 8 and windows 8.1. This means that if you are using Windows 8/8-1 , you will no longer be able to receive software updates or access new features for the Google Drive desktop app. This information was made public in an update on the official  support page, stating the below;

"In August 2023, we're ending support for Drive for desktop on Windows 8/8.1, Windows Server 2012, and all 32-bit versions of Windows. To avoid service interruption, Windows users should upgrade to Windows 10 (64 bit) or higher before August 2023. Users of a 32-bit version of Windows can still access Drive through a browser."

Recall that, Google Drive stopped the support of Google Drive desktop app on Windows 7 earlier this year - January 4, 2023, and it seems a lot of the other browsers followed suite. .Firefox has plans to support Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 until September 2024.
